Our second annual Pearl River Mart Foods Chili Box is here!
Last year we unveiled the inaugural edition of this spicy box, and you liked it so much, we had to bring it back! This year we're featuring sauces, crisps, and a spice kit that all made their debut at Pearl River Mart Foods this year and come from small, AAPI- and women-owned businesses.
Grumpy Ginger's Malaysia Red Curry (Spicy). Based in NYC, Grumpy Ginger was founded by Sue Ann Yong, who grew up in Malaysia, Fragrant and indulgent with a kick, their signature red curry is the perfect way to spice up everything from a quiet night in to your next big dinner party. Quick and versatile, you can cook it with pretty much anything.
Fly By Jing's Xtra Spicy Chili Crisp. Inspired by Chengdu's “fly restaurants” — hole-in-the-wall eateries so good they attract diners like flies — Fly By Jing was founded by Chengdu native Jing Gao. Formulated with the hottest Chinese chilis on market, their new chili crisp is packed with three times the heat and tingle of the original FBJ Sichuan Chili Crisp.
Homiah's Rendang Spice Kit. Based in NYC, Homiah was founded by Michelle Tew. Their Rendang Spice Kit is a rich, coconut curry and super easy to use.
Yun Hai's Bullet Sesame Oil Chili Crisp. NYC-based small business Yun Hai 雲海 offers a selection of premium ingredients for Chinese and Taiwanese cooking, sourcing directly from artisans, farms, and soy sauce breweries in Taiwan. This garlicky chili crisp comes from the home kitchen of a third generation sesame oil producer, made with his own cold-pressed sesame oil. The flavor is salty, sweet, spicy, and strongly flavored with garlic and sesame oil.
Kwong Shop Chili Crisp No. 5. Los Angeles-based Kwong Shop was founded by Jen Kwong. This slow-cooked, small batch chili crisp is delicious on everything and was inspired by the spicy, flavorful chili crisps that the founder grew up eating. Infused with garlic, shallots, and two types of chiles, chile de árbol and gochugaru, giving it a hot, sweet, smoky taste.
