Events
Opening Reception: The 11th Annual Red Envelope Show: The Year of the Horse
Curated by Albert Chao (aka Grumpy Bert), this popular long-running show features the work of 100 illustrators and graphic artists from across the globe. The subject? That iconic Lunar New year tradition, the red envelope.
- How much: Free but registration is appreciated
- When: Saturday, Feb. 7, from 5 to 7 PM
- Where: Pearl River Mart at Soho
Can't make the reception? No worries: the Red Envelope Show is on view through March 29, and the art pieces will be available for purchase via our website.
Lunar New Year Day Lion Dancing and Tasting
Help us ring in Lunar New Year Day with cozy drinks, yummy bites, and lion dancing. Starting at 4:30 enjoy exquisite matcha from Sage Matcha and delicious noodle samples from Mama Lam's. Then prepared to be wowed by a showstopping performance from the Wan Chi Ming Hung Gar lion and dragon dance team starting at 5 PM.

Lunar New Year Annual Extravaganza
Join us for our annual Lunar New Year extravaganza in Chelsea Market! It will be an afternoon full of festivities:
11:30 AM to 12 PM: Ribbon dancing from the New York Chinese Cultural Center on the main concourse in front of Pearl River Mart
12 to 12:30 PM: Lion dancing from the Wan Chi Ming Hung Gar lion and dragon dance team which will begin on the main concourse in front of Pearl River Mart and continue downstairs to Pearl River Mart Foods
1 to 5 PM: Food and drink will be available for purchase from Pearl River Mart Foods vendors Mao's Bao, Kimbap Lab, Tea & Milk, and Maxi's Noodle, and event partner Dickson's. Activities include mahjong lessons, red envelope and chopstick activities with Sylvia Chen (author of Sparkles for Sunny and Tricky Chopsticks), personalized calendar readings from Chinese metaphysics practitioner Julie Huang (creator of the Glow Up Golden calendar), and more!
