Another fun-filled AANHPI Heritage Month on the books!

Our annual Sunset Celebration co-hosted with Lunar Hard Seltzer was as delicious as ever. More than 30 AAPI-owned restaurants and food and beverage businesses served up some incredible bites and sips. We kept hearing over and over again how full everyone was, which delights our inner Asian grandmas.

Earlier this month we also had the chance to participate in the Chinatown book launch party for Corky Lee's Asian America: Fifty Years of Photographic Justice. Our own Joanne Kwong spoke on the insightful panel who shared wonderful stories about Corky and his photographs.

We got in on some classical music action too. The Metropolitan Opera and WQXR partnered on a lovely AANHPI Heritage Month performance that we were so proud to sponsor. Thanks also to Mao's Bao and Moshi for generously providing yummy bao and sparkling waters.

No AANHPI Meritage Month would be complete without art, and lots of it! In early May we had a lovely opening reception for "Not Your China Doll: A Retrospective of Anna May's Wong Trailblazing Career," curated by Katie Gee Salisbury, author of the book that inspired the exhibition. On view in our Soho gallery through Sept. 8.

Throughout the outdoor dining area of the Meatpacking district is a companion installation, "Young Hollywood Was Asian: The Pioneers Who Made Motion Pictures," also curated by Katie. It features pioneering yet lesser known AAPI Hollywood figures including Oscar-winning cinematographer James Wong Howe, Hollywood’s first AAPI heartthrob Sessue Hayakawa, Filipina movie star Elena Jurado, and more. The installation is on view until May 31 so you have just a few more days to catch it!

In Chelsea Market is the third part of Katie's exhibition series, "Not Your China Doll: Art Inspired by Anna May Wong." It showcases the works of six AAPI and POC women artists: Mina Chacko, Helen Chang, Felicia Liang, Tiffany Liang, Linda Sandova, and Elizabeth Yoo.

Originally on view for the month of May, its run has been extended to June 21, giving you even more of a chance to see these stunning pieces (available for purchase). You can also learn more about the artists in interviews conducted by Katie.
