What Were You Like in the '90s, Pearl River Mart?

In case you didn't notice, there's been a 1990s resurgence.

Between social media trends, renewed love for bands like the Goo Goo Dolls, and a wildly popular show centered on 1990s NYC "it" couple John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Besette (who apparently loved shopping at Pearl River Mart), we've been swept up in '90s nostalgia.

Some of you might remember our location from that time. Sprawling across 15,000 square feet and two floors, we resided on the corner of Canal and Broadway from 1988 to 2004. It was then the store became beloved to fashion designers, interior decorators, and quintessential '90s celebrities like Christina Aguilera, Lisa Kudrow, and Ms. Besette.

While Pearl River Mart has evolved since then, the spirit of the '90s lives on in same of our favorite items. Here are just a few.

Mary Jane shoes — While Mary Janes have been around since the early 20th century, the 1990s saw a huge resurgence, complete with platforms. Ours have returned to a more classic style, albeit just as cute and versatile.

Wide-leg pants and joggers — Color us glad that skinny jeans are no longer the only pants game in town. We're happier opting for comfy bottoms like our wide-leg pants and joggers, reminiscent of '90s barrel style.

Pokemon — Born in Japan in 1996, Pokemon reached U.S. shores in 1998, and remains a craze to this day. In our stores you can find Pokemon blind boxes, plushes, keychains, and trading cards, and on our website, Nanoblocks and collectible figurines.

Bamboo blinds — The shift from the bold and extravagant decor of the 1980s to the more minimalist style of the 1990s helped to cement the popularity of bamboo window treatments, which we can attest to. Our bamboo blinds are still one of our best-selling items.
