China House of Rancho Cucamonga, CA

$500.00
SKU SYA-SHARED-CHINAHOUSE

Known as China House, this structure is the only surviving remnant of a once-thriving Chinatown in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Circa 1919, China House was built as group housing and a store for Chinese workers at a time when many agriculturally centered communities in Southern California depended on Chinese labor. Now owned by the City, China House stands vacant and deteriorating, facing an uncertain future, while local preservation and Chinese American heritage groups fight to save it.
