Guardian Lion and Preservationist Albert Okura of Amboy, CA (Set)

$500.00
SKU SYA-SHARED-LION

In 2013, two six-foot-tall marble guardian lions appeared seemingly out of nowhere in Amboy, CA. Also known as fu dogs, they're believed to protect against evil forces. They always come in pairs with the male identified by the world beneath his foot while under the female's paw is a lion cub.

One possible origin for the Amboy lions is Albert Okura (1951–2023), a third-generation Japanese American restaurateur and preservationist. In 2005 he purchased the unincorporated ghost town of Amboy with a promise to restore it.

Regardless of where they came from, the Amboy guardian lions are considered by many as protectors of the desert.
