What is the Mid-Autumn Festival?

Second only to Lunar New Year, the Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most celebrated holidays across Asia. It's a time for homecoming and reunions, and for those who can't be with family, to gather together and lament their homesickness. Traditions include lighting lanterns, lauding the full moon, and of course eating mooncakes.

Two legendary figures associated with the holiday are Chang'E, the moon goddess, and her companion, the Jade Rabbit. You'll often seen depictions of Chang'E and the Jade Rabbit in Mid-Autumn Festival treats and decor.
