Indonesia Salad with Tamarind Heads BBQ Sauce Dressing
Tamarind-based BBQ sauce? Yes please and thank you. The Tamarind Heads spicy BBQ sauce makes a great base for the dressing that accompanies this asinan sayur or Indonesia salad. Check out the recipe below:
Ingredients (serves 2 to 4)
For the salad
- 8 oz tempeh, cut into strips
- 1/4 cup neutral oil
- 3 cups finely shredded cabbage
- 2 carrots, julienned
- 1 cup fresh green beans, cut into 1/4" segments
- 1 cup chopped cucumber
- 1/2 cup roasted peanuts, crushed
- 2 scallions, finely chopped
For the dressing
- 2 Tbsp Tamarind Heads BBQ Sauce
- 2 Tbsp water
- 1 lime, juiced
- 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 1 tsp sugar
Recipe
- Shallow fry the tempeh in oil in a frying pan on medium high heat for 2 to 3 minutes each side until golden. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl combine the cabbage carrots, beans, and cucumbers and set aside.
- Make the dressing in a smaller bowl combining the Tamarind Heads BBQ sauce with water, lime juice, garlic, and sugar.
- Add the tempeh, peanuts, and scallion to the salad. Dress and toss well.
