If in a glass container with pebbles:

  1. Fill with water to just under the bulb. The water shouldn't touch the bottom of the bulb.
  2. Put the glass in a cool (40-50°F) and dark spot with good ventilation.
  3. After 10 to 12 weeks, the buds should be about 2 inches high. Now you can put the glass in full daylight at normal room temperature.
  4. Turn the glass occasionally since the flowers will grow toward the light.

If in a ceramic pot with soil:

  1. Fill the pot with 5/6 of the potting soil.
  2. With the tip pointing up, press the bulb firmly into the soil. Cover with the remaining soil so only bulb tip is showing.
  3. Keep the soil moist but do not over water.
  4. Put the glass in a cool (40-50°F) and dark spot with good ventilation.
  5. After 10 to 12 weeks, the buds should be about 1.5 inches high. Now you can put the glass in full daylight at normal room temperature.
  6. Turn the pot occasionally partly since the flowers will grow toward the light.
